Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
Charanya : My name is Charanya anand, my blog name is Jiya’s delicacy. I have my blog in the name of Jillu Anand. I started to cook fully fledged only after marriage. I used to cook before wedding as well. I am an MBA finance graduate. I am currently staying in Singapore. I started my blogging as a hobby.
What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?
Charanya : The unique thing in my blog is I update the recipes that I cook only. I do not post anything from Internet. I learn recipes and cooking from my grandmothers, mother and mother in law. I learnt a lot of cooking from my grandma. The motto of my blog itself is authentic recipes from grandma, mom, mom in laws kitchen. I also innovate a lot of recipes. People can find easy, innovative and simple recipes in my blog. I have participated in a cookery show in puthuyugam TV. My recipes have been published in Tamil magazine!
How often do you blog?
Charanya : I was blogging everyday initially. Gradually the blogging has reduced now. So whenever I get time, I post nowadays.
What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?
Charanya : Successful blogpost to date is rose Kheer, biryani varieties.
What do you find most challenging about blogging?
Charanya : Most challenging thing about blogging is finding time to blog. We require solid one hour for blogging. Creating pictures, watermarking the pics, writing about the food. It takes time.
Can we really make a living by Blogging? If yes, how we can do that?
Charanya : Blogging , just started as hobby. I do not concentrate on making money out of blogging. I wanted to create a cookbook of my own recipes. It would be useful for me to look tomorrow for any recipes. I have participated in my fellow bloggers events. I have earned few blogger friends. I have won few prizes from those events.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Charanya : Many of my friends find difficult to cook, find time to try dishes, etc. so a small piece of advice for them. We cook for our family. Develop interest to cook dishes, motivate yourself to try new dishes. When your family starts enjoying it you would automatically get motivated to cook nicely. My family has been a constant motivation for me in trying new dishes and thereby my interest kept on increasing! When my hubby and kid enjoy the dish that I made, all our efforts and troubles that we took are paid for! So boost your confidence and don’t be lazy to try out new dishes.
