Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.

Hasna : Hi all! I’m Hasna , the author of ‘Kachuss Delights’.   Blogging happened to me on a whim when we sisters decided to share mom’s recipes along with our tried and tested ones to the outside world. Later, it happened that my sisters got busy and I had to handle this single handed; though I include a few of their recipes too. I am basically from Kannur, Kerala although I have spent most of my life in UAE. I love baking to the core; but stepped into cake decorating seriously, these days. I found always impossible to decorate cakes with a toddler. But now I can, when she is about to three in a few weeks.

What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?

Hasna : According to my readers’ feedbacks, I give them precise measurements  and so they trust my posts . I make it as simple as possible and add step by step pictures as and when I can. I even update my recipes when I find more delicious twists than I posted a few months or years back.

How often do you blog?

Hasna : It depends on my leisure time. I give first priority to my family. I don’t blog when there are lots of things going on in my private life. I do not blog when my kids’ exams are going on, when they really need my company or when I can’t find time enough. Blogging is time-consuming, when you are serious about it. Preparing a dish, noting down the recipes, trying again if it turned to be a not-so-perfect dish, clicking hundreds of pictures, choosing 2-3 out of them, etc. requires quite a lot of time.

What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?

Hasna : It’s always cakes and cookies. To be precise, Danish butter cookies and Banana Walnut Cakes are on the top of the list. Desserts come next in the list. The most popular posts based on the readers’ feedback are my posts on Biriyanis (Mutton, BBQ chicken, Mixed Seafood Biryani, Veg Navratan Biryani, Majboos etc.)

What do you find most challenging about blogging?

Hasna : It’s always the pictures. Before, I had no time in spending for my photographs and I didn’t care a lot. But recently, I’ve invested in my DSLR and now I’m learning photography from my fellow bloggers and quite a few photography sites.

What are some of your favorite author blogs and why?

Hasna : There are few in the list. Passionate about baking & Shabs Cuisine are the two blogs whose pictures I sit, stare and drool.

Can we really make a living by Blogging? If yes, how we can do that?

Hasna : Why not? But we should invest more time into blogging. We can earn through Adsense, publishing product reviews, restaurant reviews etc.

What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?

Hasna : Be sure that you have enough time to spare. It requires a lot of commitments and hard work and it’s the quality and not quantity that matters.
