Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.

Jaibala : Academically a Microbiologist, I used to work in events before my life changed. Professionally a Teacher, I am a Writer and a Poet. Mother, Friend, Daughter, Teacher and so many more things; my entire life revolves around the people I Love, family, Friends and my toddler and my words define me. I have been reading since I learnt to decipher alphabets and my world revolves around stories that I read and write. Every moment fascinates me and I live life by the belief there is something good in everything. My biggest blessing in life is my Son, who is my entire life and my family and friends who have been my courage and strength. My blog – My School Of Thought – is just like me Simple, Opinionated, Straight Forward and as Realistic as possible. Writing and Reading compete to be the love of my life. I write mostly about a moment or an emotion, a story that catches my attention. My inspiration lies all around me, and I always try to put forth my opinion in my words.

What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?

Jaibala : My blog is an extension of me. I write passionately and honestly about things that matter. I cannot claim to change the world, but I want to make people think about things that I write.  I want people to spend a minute and reflect after they read a poem, story or a random musing on my blog. I want the reader to take something away from every post they read. Every word I write is with that in mind.

How often do you blog?

Jaibala : I blog fairly regularly, blogging for a little over a year now, I am nearing publishing my 200th Post. I think being regular is good for the blog.

What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?

Jaibala : For me I define Success by the comments I get, there have been a few posts that have garnered good response from the readers. Poems like Phoenix and Early Womanhood, Stories like Cold Steel and posts like Happy to be or Happy New me have all be very successful.

What do you find most challenging about blogging?

Jaibala : Blogging for a year now, I still have a lot to learn, like I always say, I am a baby in the blogging world and being accepted wholeheartedly by the community has been a huge encouragement. Lessons in life never end, and I am forever learning, blogging teaches you so much. The most difficult thing about blogging is being a regular reader. Finding the time to go haunt your favorite blogs, is the most difficult, there are so many great blogs to read and learn from.

What are some of your favorite author blogs and why?

Jaibala : I don’t follow author blogs as such, but John Green’s vlogs and Pottermore are some that I keep going back to. Some blogs I never miss a post from are I Wrote Those, My Take on Everything, Rachana Says, Moving Quill etc.

What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?

Jaibala : It would be difficult to pick a few books, but some of my all time favourites are The Harry Potter series by J. K Rowling, Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, Gone with the Wind by Margret Mitchell, All Jane Austen Books, Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, all books by Enid Blyton, Dan Brown, John Grishm, Robert Ludlum, Jeffery Archer, Matthew Reilley, Fredrick Forsyth, Khaleed Hosseini. I loved reading The Inheritance of a Loss by Kiran Desai, Vikram Seth Books, The Kingdom Come by Aarti Venkatraman. The list could go on and on…Reading is something I love to do as much as writing.

Can we really make a living by Blogging? If yes, how we can do that?

Jaibala : It takes years of patience and brilliant writing and more importantly lots of hard work to be able to make a living by blogging. I am not saying it cannot be done, but you need to be persistent when the times are difficult and unrelenting.  Blogging is a brilliant way to earn a living if, you love the magic of words.

What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?

Jaibala : Write for the love of writing, read for the love of reading and keep at it however difficult it gets.
