10511580_10153276040242570_2014013122750503986_oThanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.

Priya : Originally from Mumbai, an HR professional all these past years, love my parents and younger brother, moved to US post my marriage to a wonderful man. Since the time I moved here, my husband has been persuading me to work towards my dream & my passion. I started this food blog in a whim. I have been a foodie since I can remember. Blame it on my mom who is the best chef I know. However it never had occurred to me that I should start blogging about food until few months ago. Now there is no looking back. I am totally hooked onto my food blog. I love the entire process – creating a recipe, cooking it, taking pictures, presentation and feedback! Loving it all.

What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?

Priya : My blog is as same as it can be different to the other food blogs. Food is the common factor here and what makes mine different is that my recipes are all vegetarian, easy to make, no complicated procedures, there is fusion of cuisines and it is the genes of my mom in me which makes me special and different!

How often do you blog?

Priya : 3-4 times a week. However I have sufficient recipes in pipeline. So I plan my posts.

What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?

Priya : There have been a couple of them – Cilantro Chips, Cheese corn toast, Moong Dal snack, Mug cake, etc. My personal analysis is that people generally visit your blog if you have great presentation and the recipe is something simple and easy to make. The audience wants recipes which taste like store bought food which makes it healthier than eating out. Also they want healthy food options to keep their weight in check.

What do you find most challenging about blogging?

Priya : To keep inventing yourself, try and test different recipes which not just look good but taste good too. Keep trying innovative ways of presentation. Actually it all boils down to creativity and imagination. SO one needs to keep pushing the limits and challenge oneself.

What are some of your favorite author blogs and why?

Priya : I like to follow Racheal Ray, Nigella Lawson, Tarla Dalal, Sanjeev Kapoor for inspiration.

What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?

Priya : While growing up I owned most of Tarla Dalal’s cookbooks. Otherwise today I mainly browse through the net and explore different food blogs to get inspired.

Can we really make a living by Blogging? If yes, how we can do that?

Priya : Oh yes you can. This is something I have just discovered and still exploring. There are many ways to monetize your blog. Adsense, Amazon affiliate program, Social Media promotion, etc. Do not stop at anything.

What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?

Priya : Start now! If there is a seed of an idea in your head, please do not fear and go ahead to implement it. Anything is possible. It is all in our minds. If you have a passion for doing something, do it. It will be successful because you are doing something that you love!
