Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
Tanya : Hello, SIW readers! Thank you so much for having me here I am Tanya, the head and heart behind Kreative Korner. I am a Computer Science Engineer by profession but that is the last thing that we talk about at the blog. Kreative Korner is all about colors, crafts, food, travel, passion, fun, and chit-chats.
Now, please don’t ask me why the words ‘Kreative’ & ‘Korner’ start with ‘K’. It just happened! I know my spellings, I swear!
What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?
Tanya : I started the blog as a medium to take my stories, experiences and experiments to people- friends I do not get a chance to interact with very often; and the strangers with whom I share my passion for art, craft, cooking, gardening and more.
A visit to Kreative Korner, would be like an evening with a friend! I initiate the conversation and the comment section would be all yours.
How often do you blog?
Tanya : As often as I can!
There are times when you’ll see a rush of posts and then there are those when I completely vanish for weeks. Though, I do not like to keep my blogger friends wondering about my whereabouts but these breaks do good for my blogging. Every time I make a comeback, I do it with extra energy and zeal.
What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?
Tanya : It is ‘Diwali Decor’ and the name is pretty much self explanatory. The post features my alternative to the traditional Rangoli. Check it out here: http://tanyaanurag.blogspot.com/2011/07/diwali-decor.html
What do you find most challenging about blogging?
Tanya : Maintaining regularity!
There are phases, when blogging takes the back seat. Giving blogging it’s fair share from the 24 hours I have at hand, sometimes gets difficult.
What are some of your favorite author blogs and why?
Tanya : I read a lot of blogs- both from my list of ‘Following’ and random.
Apartment Therapy- They always amuse me with their terrific ideas.
Tanvii.com- She keeps me engaged with her writing. I have never been able to leave her page without reading at least a few posts.
Poppy View- My latest favorite. The pictures on her blog are astonishing. No fancy photography. No bokeh. No de-focus. Yet so appealing.
What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?
Tanya : Why Men Don’t Listen and Women Can’t Read Maps.
This book is bound to change the way you look at the problems you have with the opposite sex. You learn to accept the people around you for who they are.
Can we really make a living by Blogging? If yes, how we can do that?
Tanya : Definitely! I know a lot of people who are making good money out of blogging. Sadly, I am not one of them. Accidental clicks on the ads on my blog only get me a trivial amount but then, I never thought of my blog as a money minting machine.
If you intend to make a living by blogging, you have to focus on that and channelize your efforts. A lot of companies are willing to pay good amount or send in free products in return for written reviews. If you run a business, blogging is a good medium to connect with people around the world and publicize your products. Then, of course, there is passive income from ads.
It would be irrational to expect a fortune over-night. Only dedicated endeavor can make you a wealthy blogger.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Tanya : More than an advice, it’s a request to all the bloggers- Please be appreciative!
You visit a blog, spend several minutes reading posts, make notes of the takeaways and then, move on. Right before you hit the little ‘X’ to close the window, please take a minute to leave a message for the writer. Bring a smile to that face behind the words.
