Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
Thasneen : My name is Thasneen and I am from Kerala, now settled in Canada.
I am the author of the world famous blog called Cooking with Thas…. (okay you got me, not world famous that was a joke ☺).
I am also a food writer for London Link Magazine, occasional recipe developer for a few food companies.
What makes your blog so unique and why should people read it?
Thasneen : What makes my blog unique is the way I strongly connect with my readers. I am very active on my Cooking with Thas facebook page and keep my readers engaged. I also answer every question that is asked by my readers. I am here to help.
By doing this I have made so many good friends who initially came to my blog as visitors.
Why should people read my blog? Well…my blog offers a step-by-step visual guide to cooking and is written in a way that both experienced and novice cooks can follow.
I blog about Indian recipes with focus on traditional Kerala recipes and also North American recipes. So if you are in the look out for simple and easy to follow instructions for these recipes, my blog is the place to be.
How often do you blog?
Thasneen : 3 or 4 times a week.
What has been your most successful blog post to date and what was it about?
Thasneen : To date it is Sweet corn chicken soup, here is the recipe:
What do you find most challenging about blogging?
Thasneen : Blogging is now so much social. It is not just writing a blog post anymore but a combination of all social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube etc. I am active on Facebook and YouTube but I do not yet get the gist of Pinterest or Twitter, so I find that being active on those platforms to be the most challenging part of blogging.
What are some of your favorite author blogs and why?
Thasneen : Edible Garden- Great collection of Indian recipes with amazing pictures.
Rak’s Kitchen- For traditional South Indian Vegetarian recipes.
What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?
Thasneen : My favorite cookbook is- Indian, Chinese, Thai and Asian- 1000 Recipes by Rafi Fernandez.
My favorite Novel is Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Thasneen : If you want to do something, don’t wait for the perfect time. Now is the perfect time to do what you believe in, so just go ahead and do it. Do it from your heart, that way you will find cooking and blogging to be very therapeutic. Be what you are and be consistent. Genuinely connect with your readers, you’ll be amazed by the immense support and love you get from your readers.
