Hi Sanchita, thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
Sanchita: Thank u for giving me the chance to share my ideas with SIW. I was very much focused about my career and dream from my childhood.
I started my creative life when I was in School. I used to get involved my self with all creative activities like Sketching, Painting, Greetings card making, rangali etc etc and always used to participate in all the competitions.
I have done my Masters in Fine Arts from Assam University Silchar, after completing the course I went to Kolkata to do 1 year diploma in animation.And after that the real journey began, I came to Hyderabad first for haunting job and worked three months in a small studio.After that I got the offer from UTV Production Mumbai and from there my career started full fledged.
I was there in mumbai for 5 years and was getting experiences on DVD movies and animation movies. My last Studio was Rhythm & Hues where I worked on life of pi movie and many other Hollywood movies as a Visual Effect artist. I just left the job one month back for my another passion. After working on the same since 8 years without any creative freedom the life became so monotonous, now I can take up the baking as a tool to show my capability to this new world.
What inspired you to start baking?
Sanchita: I started baking when I was in School and used to bake cakes for my family. After marriage, I just continued that. Being an artist I always try to put some creative inputs on my cakes which look different from the regular cakes. Initially, it was only friends and family, now I get a lot of clients, and request from various cities too.
What is your USP?
Sanchita: This is just the start of my business and getting lots of likes on my facebook page Sanchi’s Oven and people are really liking my work, as I am designing the cakes according to their requirements.I give sketches of the cake how it will look and do back and forth until it gets approved.They just love the way how I give values their emotion, ideas and always try to make their special day memorable.I use all the good products and always ask the client and offer to try different flavor from the regular cakes,I take a special care hygienically, they can keep my cake 4 to 5 days easily where the market cakes spoiled in 2 days. Some become a regular customer once they tasted my cakes.
Would you like to share any baking secret with SIW readers?
Sanchita: Whatever you’re making just do it from heart it will definitely be a master piece. Always give your 100% to each and every cake, you will automatically get to reach the ultimate destination. Any challenges you faced in starting this business?
Sanchita: It’s difficult! Initially it becomes fluctuate monetarily, it’s not based on regular salary the growth will be depend on your work in this competitive market. So if the family really needs monetarily support than I have to very much focus on my work which I really love to do.
What are your plans for the future?
Sanchita: Just want to do good work , extraordinary work to surprise the world .
What do you think are the keys to professional and business success for women in India?
Sanchita: You need to be very focused what you’re doing and I would say do what you really want to do, don’t get influenced by others. Just try to address your passion and start exploring the stuffs. But do everything Dil se I believe there are some keys to professional and business success be organize be creative be willing to learn be willing to work hard, stay persistent and more important create network.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Sanchita: Find your passion in life and follow it. In order to reach the top, you need to be passionate about what you do. Think about it. It’s so much easier to motivate yourself to work hard when you’re energized and excited by what you’re doing.
