Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.
Shikha: Hi I am Shikha Murarka and I run a company called Mishmash. I am an MBA student by qualification and used to run my own design agency until the baking bug bit me and then there was no looking back. I have done my advanced baking course from Sophia college and went to London to do my decorating course.
What inspired you to start this business?
Shikha: Actually boredom with my previous work and the passion for baking.
What is your USP?
Shikha: Sugarcafting and anything innovative
How someone can start the same business as yours in terms of investment, material procurement, production, and marketing etc?
Shikha: Anyone who is passionate and love their job can start this. You need a lot of dedication and need to understand your consumer. You can even start from your home kitchen and then grow, just like I did. Now I operate from a studio.
Any challenge you face in your profession and how you overcome that?
Shikha: Lots of challenges, since I was not from this field zillions things I was unaware of but reading learning all got me to the place I am today.
What are your plans for the future?
Shikha: I want to be the best cake artist of India
How you manage your personal and professional life?
Shikha: If you are a Cake artist you do not have a personal life.
What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?
Shikha: Nothing specific anything that comes your way.
What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?
Shikha: Just be at it. Don’t give up and do give your best. All the best and I will be very happy if I can be of any help. Happy Baking
