Roses in heart shape

Thanks for taking the time to chat with SIW. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your work.

Tarla: Posies is all about spreading a smile and gifting someone a bouquet of freshness and warmth. We make artificial and real flower arrangement bouquets. We do exclusive placement floral decor for wedding houses and Ganpati pandals and also deal with chocolate bouquets with a mix of artificial flower arrangement. We strive hard to make a long lasting memory through beautiful flowers.

What inspired you to start this business?

Tarla: The best about my work is I never intended to start it professionally but the overwhelming response from people around and the support of my friends and family and their constant encouragements got me orders name and fame :) Since I was a kid I’ve been collecting flowers arranging them and sometimes I’d go up to the florists and help them just for fun and they became my friends over the years. So the very start of my career I had these florists who set up near my house to help me with all sort of arrangements that I needed to make and they told me take whatever orders you can without a fear we are here for you. And this is how it all began.

What is your USP?

Tarla: Our USP for is you believe is simply the mix of flowers. The taste and choice and blend of bouquets are one in a kind. As we know anything made with love always throws the same lovely vibe back to it’s viewers. So we assure the best tasting homemade chocolates, almond rocks being are most ordered and our personal favorite followed with brownie chicks bouquets with pretty flowers with it. We offer value for money!

How someone can start the same business as yours in terms of investment, material procurement, production, and marketing etc?

Tarla: I would love to guide young entrepreneurs on something like this. This can be one of the best hobbies converted into profession for all the house wives there. Here the time invested is barely something so it’s a big tick when it comes to time management and regarding materials. I’d get in bulk all in all for months. I hardly go once in 3-4 months but I make sure I myself go and get the best bargained proved my choice of flowers. Once you are good at your work, the best form of marketing that can ever work for you is word of mouth. Believe me it has great power since women love gossiping and discussing every new Interesting thing they know about. Beside s starting a Facebook page was the need of hour. Not for publicity alone but for seeing my work acknowledged and like by people even unknown to me.

Any challenge you face in your profession and how you overcome that?

Tarla: Earlier when I just got married ,my mother-in-law found all this a waste of time and so did my sister-in-law and they made fun of me and my hobby back then. Now with time, I am so happy to say that my mother-in-law orders me to make her replicates of bouquets that I make for my clients for her room every now and then. She would like one of them so much and she would just want to keep it back with her. Apart from this it gets challenging at time when you take bulk orders or big orders to hire stuff to train them and make sure they carry out operations with your taste and preferences. But since most of this staff is not much educated we have to while away a lot of time and making them practice and prepare things at home first. Sometimes they start using their brains and start taking decisions best known to themselves even after being told what to do at the venue of the client and it takes so much patience to handle the client not lose your temper on your workers and calm your clients and make humor workers do just as you want. Or else they are very arrogant or short tempered. Especially male workers don’t like being given a lot of orders I’ve noticed but then the older staff if always in time and sync problem arises with new and short term temporary staff only.

What are your plans for the future?

Tarla: My plan for the future is sweet and simple. I want to carry this ahead that well that people from places come all the way to my residence for the smallest of bouquets that I make with so much love and fondness for my work. I want to specialize.

How you manage your personal and professional life?

Tarla: The good part is my family is really supportive. I feel really blessed. My husband and my daughters take a lot of interest and pride in what I do. They are always up with suggestions and criticisms as well and help me to grow. My husband from the very beginning when I couldn’t hire much staff in our early days helped me making and packing everything overnight sitting hours with it and took equal joy in executing my orders. I can’t be enough thankful to him for that. My daughters like me have a good taste and can help me out finishing my orders when I need them. So that way I have always managed to keep my personal and professional life in sync with all their support and love.

What are your favorite books that you would recommend SIW family?

Tarla: Wings of fire by our very own late Abdul kalam ji has been one of my greatest inspirational books also books written Dale Carnigs and Napoleon Hill have been the best books of my life.

What advice would you give to young women readers of SIW who want to follow a similar career path as you?

Tarla: The amount of satisfaction one gets from doing what they love is beyond words. Just do what you love and it will amuse you how you never feel the pains of working for it day and night.
